|Ch.14 Road Trip (Avatar: A New Age)|
Book 2: Unity
January 18, 2015
Long ago my predecessor, Avatar Korra, stopped Amon and the Equalists. Amon may have died but his cause did not. A large exodus of nonbenders fled to the new country of the People's Democracy. Eventually, the days where benders and nonbenders lived together was nothing but a memory.
The people's democracy thrived and isolated themselves from the bending world. Many citizens believe the old tales of bending and the Avatar to be just that, stories.
Meanwhile, in the bending world, Avatar Korra ruled with an iron fist and kept the peace in the nations until she died peacefully at 115. Then I, Avatar Suki, was born, and I was a failure.
Due to my favoritism to my own nation, the world plunged into chaos. Because of this, the spirits split the Avatar into four people, one from each element, and all of them were born in the People's Democracy. Avatar Korra gave me a world of peace which I made a world of chaos. Now I give these four new Avatars a world of chaos which I hope they will turn into a world of peace.
The team used Nori's dragon, Sherubi, to fly to this old world but they had no idea where to start. They didn't even have a simple map that could lead them somewhere, so they decided to just go to the first big landmass they saw.
Saying there was tension within he group would be an understatement. Koda and Yue were emotionally unstable and just stared at the ocean so they wouldn't stare at each other. Orora and Rokki weren't speaking either, because Orora thought what he was doing was stupid. Hana and Nori were just stuck in the middle of all the drama that was happening.
Hana, being the leader like usual, knew she had to do something to get the team ready for whatever world they faced. "So everyone we need a plan that is for sure," she said trying to get everyone's attention.
"A plan?" Rokki asked in shock. "We don't even know what's out there. How are we supposed got think of a plan?"
Orora rolled her eyes. "She was just trying to help you idiot. And besides I figured you'd be completely on board."
"Well a lot of help it is when we have no idea what's going to happen!" Rokki yelled. "And maybe I will join her!"
Orora was going to speak but Hana interrupted, "No you are not joining me. You guys need to get whatever is bothering you, so either fight it out or hug it out right now."
Their expressions softened as they looked at each other but Rokki ruined it. "This is stupid!" he said and turned around.
"Koda and Yue we haven't heard from you in a while," Nori said hoping that maybe they could at least solve their problem. However, there was no answer they just sat there quietly.
The rest of the day was silent until Nori had Sherubi land on a small island just big enough for her to sleep on. The sun was setting and no one felt comfortable flying at night. The gang got off the dragon and laid their sleeping bags down. They laid in a circle in this order: Hana, Koda, Nori, Orora, Yue, Rokki. Hana was a little caught off guard by Koda and Rokki's spot but she didn't say anything. She was next to two emotionally unstable boys which may be worse than two emotionally unstable girls.
Everyone slept except Koda who just stared out into the never ending ocean. Hana woke up in the night and saw Koda. "You alright?" She asked him still a bit sleepy.
He shrugged slightly without moving any other part of his body. Hana then sat up and looked over at him. As she watched him she couldn't help think back on her discussion with Nori. It was a little suspicious that the person she described did seem an awful lot like Koda, in a way to much like Koda. "I'm fine," he finally said. "Go back to sleep."
She shook her head. "No you're not. Did you and Yue break things off?" She asked trying to be sympathetic but that was hard for her. 'He does look kind of cute,' she thought to herself. 'No stop! He just broke up with Yue,' she thought again and banished those thoughts from her head.
He nods. "I can't be with someone who I know is going to have to leave me one day."
"W-well everyone is going to leave you one day, but you need to enjoy your time here," she said trying to help him. It was obvious he was meant for Yue, but she couldn't help that she was developing a small crush on him. Most guys wouldn't think about things the way he does.
He shook his head slightly. "This is different. I need someone who is real. I love Yue but I don't think I could ever be in love with her. Not like someone who is in the physical world."
Hana nods. "I understand what you mean. You two are literally from different worlds. It couldn't work so why even try."
"Exactly but I don't thinks Yue understands that," Koda said and shrugged.
"She will. Just give her time. Girls have a more difficult time letting go then boys," Hana replied but it seemed to her Koda was pretty upset. Maybe it was easier for boys like Rokki but not like Koda.
He shook his head. "I don't think so. This was the hardest thing I've ever done."
As this conversation went on she couldn't help but to fall for Koda, but it was nothing real. At least that's what she thought. "I know but go to sleep. You'll need it." She laid down and so did he and she hoped he had fell asleep.
Early in the morning Rokki awoke with his stuffed platypus bear, Mushi, in his arms. He sat up and saw Orora across from him just watching the world around them. He got up and walked over to her. "Why did you give this back?" He asked.
"Because I thought you'd rather give it to Hana," she replied not looking at him.
"Orora we've been over this," he replied sitting next to you.
"No I don't think we have. You justified why you acted the way you did but why are you acting the way you are now? I told you I want to be with you," she said and looked over at him and took the bear. It was strange to her but she too felt a sense of comfort while holding it.
"Because you deserve better than me," he replied and then he grabbed her hand. "But we are young so why not give it a chance. I've realized that when the most amazing girl in the world is standing before me I at least have to try."
Orora blushed and smiled widely. "But first apologize for yelling at me." She giggled.
A small grin appeared on his face. "I'm sorry I yelled. I didn't like you being mad at me so I got mad." She smiled and kissed his cheek.
Later in the morning the group woke up in a much better mood than the day before and Rokki wouldn't leave Orora's side. Nori giggled. "I so called it!" Everyone laughed and got on Sherubi.
