Prologue[]

"Come on kids!" Katara shouted out the door, "Get inside!" Katara, now 34 years old, lived in the upper ring of Ba Sing Se with her 3 children and Aang. After the 100 year long war and a little while after, Katara and Aang got married. Sokka and Suki, Toph, Zuko and Mai were all engaged as well. Katara's room was a nice big inn. The living room had light brown walls with green rugs with the Earth Kingdom insignia hung up. The tables were an aceint artifact of brown maple wood. The carpet was nice and soft and many people could gather there. Aside from that there was a nice kitchen with brown clear tiles. Different square and rectangular cabinets. A clear nice hallway went pass both ends leading a trail of besque carpet. Stairs were led into the back of her house that winded into the upstair rooms. It smelled of warm tea boiling on the stove. Katara kept her house ready at all times.

"But I want to keep playing with Uncle Sokka!" cried Bumi. " He chases me around with his boomerang." Bumi was the 7 year old middle child of Katara and Aang. Kya, an 8 year old girl, was the oldest and Tenzin, a 6 year old boy, was the youngest. Katara gave a look to her brother, who was now 35, that said Wow, after all these years you're still same old troublesome Sokka.

"Come on Katara, I'm just having fun with my nephew!" Sokka apologized in his new deep voice that didn't constantly squeak. Katara shook her head and sarcastically replied,

"Yeah, till you someone gets hurt. You know what they say, it's all fun and games till someone gets hit with a machete!" Katara gave Sokka a nice lecture. Sokka seemed to agree,

"I guess your right. It would be a shame if one of the kids got hurt......."

"Who said I meant the kids ?" Katara giggled.

Sokka gave a look of, disappointment.

"Hey it's Toph's job to hurt people, you know, ever since she started her whole police force in Republic City. Don't even get me started with that toddler girl Lin that she's managed to raise! Lin's just as tough as her mother, at only 3 years of age!"

Toph, who overheard the conversation as they walked into the house and smirked, "You're right. I do like fighting people, but not as much as Lin!" Then, Toph kicked her foot against the ground which sent Sokka flying through the air and plummeting to the ground. Aang and Suki were waiting at the door of his and Katara's house helping the children inside,

"It's just like Sokka to get his butt whooped by Toph." Aang whispered to Suki.

"Yeah," Suki smiled, "Some things don't always change." Aang left the door to go inside and Suki found her 9 year old son, Hakoda, sitting in the grass.

"Come on Hakoda, get inside for dinner!" Suki walked over and sat next to him in the soft green grass near where all the lilies and daisies grew,

"I don't want to, no one talks to me!" Suki's son howled.

"I bet if you went inside right know and sat next to some of your cousins and friends, you'll have a great time okay?" Suki said encouragingly. Hakoda nodded his head and followed his mother into the house. Everyone was settled on a huge table. Even Zuko, Mai, and their 10 year old daughter, Ursa, were there.

"Okay, so I hope everybody got a chance to sit down because now we get to eat a feast that Suki and I have been preparing all morning!" Katara announced. Sokka was lost in all the food at his reach,

"Finally it's food time!" Suki gave her husband a mean glare.

"Oops, sorry it's a habit!" Sokka speedily apologized. As the families were eating, Sukia, Sokka and Suki's 10 year old daughter, stood up. Suki asked her to sit down because it was rude, but she stood perfectly still, unmovable.

"I know this family reunion is great and all...." Sukia began, "But I think we can make it more interesting!" Suki, now very embarrassed, pulled her daughter down and wanted to scold her. But instead Zuko interrupted,

"I know this is strange, however I think the young Water Tribe-Kyoshi Warrior is right. It's possible that just sitting and eating is boring for the children's young minds." Too boring. Thought Hakoda. Aang shook his head,

"I believe Zuko is right. How about a story?" Kya, who loved stories, instantly screamed out 'YES'.

"Of course if that's okay with everyone else?" Aang added. The kids, except Hakoda, nodded with satisfaction.

"I think that's a wonderful idea!" Mai stated.

"Well......what story should we tell?" Asked Katara. Sokka started thinking really hard. Suddenly, Zuko's daughter Ursa gasped.

"OOOHHHH! I got an idea!!!"

"What is it?" Toph asked.

"The story daddy, tell them the story!" Ursa turned toward her father. At first Zuko appeared to be confused, but a smile cracked on his face.

"Oh I know, you want us to tell you about how I found my mother." All the kids, especially Kya, were wide eyed and shook their heads.

"It's a long story......" The kids then gave sad looks. Katara laughed,

"Oh, well I guess we can tell them!"

"Yeah the night is still young!" Bellowed Aang.

"Oooo! I want to start!" Sokka squeaked. He quickly cleared his voice and said it again, this time in a more mature way, "I'll start okay?"

"Okay Sokka, work your magic!" Toph mocked.

"Yeah....work yer magi!" Little Lin copied her mother, barely. They all shared a good laugh. Sokka was frustrated that he had been embarrassed in front of his own kid.....by a kid!"

"Yeah yeah yeah, moving on." Sokka began. The whole house got quiet as he started the story,

" It all started 1 month after the war was over......"
