Avatar: The Story Continues is a recent addition to the Avatar fan fiction group. It tells the story of what happened after the war, and clears up the many unanswered questions the finale left.

Chapter 1: After the War

As Aang and Katara kissed outside the tea shop in Ba Sing Se, Aang's whole life flashed before his eyes: his birth, when he met Appa at the Eastern Air Temple, when the monks told him he was the Avatar, when he ran away and froze himself in an iceberg, when Katara and Sokka found him and freed him, his first encounter with Zuko, and so many memories that if all of them were told, it would fill many fanfictions. After a while, the others wondered what could be taking the young couple a long time, and they all peered out the window to see the Avatar kissing his beloved. While Sokka, Suki, and Toph teased, Zuko and Mai remained impassive. As it was getting late, the members of Team Avatar all went to bed. In the morning, having won the war, they all went their separate ways. Zuko, Mai, and Iroh returned to the Fire Nation Capital, which was now under Zuko's rule. Suki returned to Kyoshi Island. Toph returned to her home in the Earth Kingdom town of Gaoling, and her parents, having heard all about their daughter's travels with the Avatar and helping him win the war, were proud of Toph and apologized for being neglectful and overprotective, having finally accepted her. And Aang, Katara, and Sokka returned to the South Pole.

All were happy that the war was over, especially Aang, having mastered all 4 elements, defeated the Fire Lord, and won Katara's heart, and he began to love this new era of peace. However, all over the battle-scarred lands of the Earth Kingdom still lay Fire Nation colonies, and even in the homeland there was still civil unrest. While most Fire Nation citizens were happy to be free of Ozai's iron fist, others, such as the people of Ember Island, wanted Ozai back on the throne, none too pleased to be ruled by Fire Lord Zuko. Among the citizens of Ember Island was a man called Kusata Akuto, a high-ranking general during the reign of Phoenix King Ozai. Kusata Akuto wanted to seize power in the Fire Nation, and rule both the homeland and the colonies in the Earth Kingdom. He would do anything to achieve his goal, even destroy the Avatar. Kusata Akuto spread word of his plan throughout the rebellious parts of the Fire Nation. His messengers even traveled to the colonies to gather people. These people would be an elite army of assassins and warriors, who would help him take control of the Fire Nation Capital.

Chapter 2:

While the worst criminals to the Fire Nation were sent to the Boiling Rock, the most insane were sent to a mental health facility on the island of Seishin Shogai. After defeating his sister Azula in an Agni Kai, Zuko sent her to Seishin Shogai, where she was looked after and guarded 24/7. She was kept in shackles to keep her from bending, and she did not like it 1 bit. Now Kusata Akuto had heard of Azula, and decided to recruit her into his diabolical plan. He took a ferryboat to the island to visit the former princess. When Kusata Akuto arrived, Azula told him how she was defeated by her brother and stripped of her power as Fire Lord.
