Avatar: The Last Airbender

Avatar: The Last Energybender is the second fanon series written by Twilitlink. The author started the series about halfway through his first series Avatar: Wanted, the first chapter was released on August 21, 2009

Long before the time of the Avatar, the people of the world used to bend the energy within themselves. Once the people learned how to bend the elements instead of their own energy, energybenders became rarer and rarer. Eventually a great war broke out between the Four Nations in which the Air Nomads and Water Tribes united and fought against the Earth Kingdom and the Fire Nation. The two forces lacked an ace in the hole however so the recruiting of the neutral energybenders began shortly after. Unfortunately the energybenders refused to become involved, but neither side was willing to give up such a powerful ally so the two sides began hunting the energybenders down and forced them to fight. The energybenders were hunted to near extinction until only one energybender remained, a young man named Genesis. Both sides want Genesis on their side and neither are willing to let the other have him. The race is on, which side will claim him, or will he escape from the hunters and reach the one place safe for him.

Avatar: The Last Energybender chapters pt.1

Twilitlink got the idea for having Genesis be hunted by both sides of the conflict was inspired by a book titled Warrior Heir. In the book the main character starts to be hunted by two ancient opposing forces because he is one of the last of his kind and both sides don't want the other to have him. In addition due to the lack actual use of energybending, aside from the very little bit shown in the show the author decided to base the energybending in The Last Energybender off of the Dragon Ball series.
