During his obsession with hunting the Corsair, August was a rough and tough drunkard bounty hunter who cared little for his own personal appearance. Though his skills were renowned, few took him serious due to his questionable habits. After defeating the Corsair, August could not find another purpose in his life. He shaved and stopped drinking as well as taking to hunting New New Team Avatar after being impressed by them in their hunt for the Corsair. Despite his hunt for New New Team Avatar, he has a soft spot for the kids.
From August's first introduction, it is revealed that he prefers using firearms, particularly heavy artillery such as Gatling guns and machine guns, however also being proficient with smaller arms. In his fight with Moshui's dragon, he showed a quick ability to switch from weapon to weapon, fast drawing ability, and a particular ability to switch between short and distant range.
By his battle in Book Three, August had trained in the mastery of the sword. Fighting against the dragon, August was able to fight against the dragon with expert sword abilities. He overpowered the dragon, but at the cost of his own life, using a combination of his firearms and blade.
- August's name is a jest at the name "June" for the bounty hunter in the original series. However, more than that his name is inspired by the MI6 agents in Darker than Black, all of whom go by months or dates. August 7, a character in DtB, was one of my favorite character ideas even if he only lasted one or two episodes. The two characters are completely different, but this is still the origin of the name.
