Akiak was the first son and second born child of Avatar Korra and Councilman Tarrlok in the Moon Drops series.

Though he was a bon-bender, Akiak found other ways to make himself useful and earn his father's approval. He dedicated himself to his training as a hunter, often going on extended stays to the Northern and Southern Water Tribes to hone his skill. The most notable of his trips being his hunt for the elusive Panda-whale, a deep-sea creature notorious for being a dangerous (and rare) predator. As a token of the successful hunt, Akiak used one of the whale's teeth to forge a razor-sharp spearhead for his primary weapon, which became his most prized possession.

Due to Akiak's success as a hunter, he was honored with respect and had earned high expectations for his future. After he gained such notoriety, Akiak found he was more comfortable spending time at home with his younger sister Nini. She aspired to be a hunter like her brother, but knew that the customs of the Water Tribes would not allow such a thing. Akiak took it upon himself to teach her the skill anyway.

His time spent in the Northern Water Tribe gave Akiak a severe respect for the Spirits and the Spirit World. When his older sister Kayok began her siege of Republic City, she had offended the spirits and provoked them into attacking. Akiak began to pray more and more to the Moon and Ocean spirits for help and guidance during those troubled times. Gradually the spirits began to make contact with him and upon facing Princess Yue, Akiak had fallen in love.

The Moon Spirit offered him a choice to either join her in the Spirit World or stay in the physical world. By accepting her offer, Akiak saved Republic City and was able to claim a place beside the woman he loved. This, however, also ended his mortal life. As a parting gift, he gave his Panda-whale-tooth spear to Nini in the hopes that, like him, she could achieve her dreams as well.
