Aang is one of the main targets in Avatar: Wanted. After the defeat of Ozai, Aang was busy putting the world back into balance.

The Assassin Nero

Three years after Ozai's defeat and world is at peace. Aang has used Energybending on the people at the Northern Air Temple to turn them into airbenders restarting the Air Nomads, and has married Katara. He has not only completely mastered all bending styles but also the Avatar State. Unfortunately someone is not happy with the way the war turned and has hired a dangerous group of assassins to kill him and the rest of Team Avatar. The first one sent is a man named Nero.

The First Encounter

Aang is traveling to the Fire Nation to visit Fire Lord Zuko. During his visit Zuko receives news that his father's been murdered and his sister's next. Zuko leaves immediately to get his his sister out and Aang accompanies him. When they arrive at the place Azula is being kept they discover it ablaze in black flames. A young man is waiting for them. The man introduces him self as Nero and immediately attacks the two. The three have a fierce Agni Kai, but Aang and Zuko defeat him, but before Zuko can finish him he is distracted by a blood curdling scream. Zuko and Aang leave Nero and rush into the burning building to save who ever screamed. They find Azula fataly burned.

The Hunt Begins

After Zuko decides to go hunt Nero, Aang appears at Zuko's ship in order to try to talk him out of pursuing Nero, but suspecting he would be unsuccessful he had the crew prepare quarters for him and Appa. His assumption proved correct once he hears that Zuko has even convinced Mai to let him go, without even giving an argument Aang offers his assistance. The two set off for the Earth Kingdom to find Toph.

Finding Toph

Aang and Zuko arrive in Omashu and immediately begin their search for Toph. Aang finds her and makes a small joke about Toph's blindness. Once the happy little reunion is over, Aang and the rest of Team Avatar decide to hunt down Nero before he finds them.

Six Against One

As Aang and his friends they are preparing to leave on their hunt for Nero, Toph holds them up by sleeping in. After Katara is gone for a few minutes to get Toph, Nero comes flying through the wall. After the six of them surround him, both Aang and Toph simultaneously attack with Earthbending. After Nero incapacitates most of the team Katara captured him and Zuko was about to kill him. Aang stopped him still clinging to the belief that no one deserves death. After convincing Zuko to let Aang take Nero's firebending away like Ozai, Aang placed his hands on Nero's forehead and chest. Only to be overpowered once Nero frees himself. Aang and the rest of the team are saved by Appa.

The Avatar and the Assassin

After Nero chases the group out of Omashu, Aang decides he has to face the assassin alone. The two meet on the ground and Aang tries to discover why Nero was attacking them. Nero's response was stating that all he could do was fight, followed by an attack on a disappointed Aang. The two duel each other fiercely. Aang pierced Nero's arm and leg with Earthbending, then attacked with a powerful airbending attack. Unfortunately Aang was caught off guard when Nero threw lightning at him and was almost killed.

The Avatar State

However Aang entered the Avatar State and beat Nero into submission. Stopping just short of the killing strike, Aang still refused to take a life. After Nero wanted to why Aang refused to finish him, Aang replied that killing makes him no better than his enemies. At the end of the chapter Aang is recovering from his wounds.

The Effect of Aang's Words

Aangs words, I show compassion because otherwise I'm just like them., stop Nero from killing his Father outright.

Infiltrate the Enemy Base

When Aang recovered from his fight with Nero, he and the team attacked a Black Lotus base that Zuko learned about. Once they were inside he and Zuko took on the firebenders as everyone else fought against their respective enemies. When they reached the top floor and confronted the head of the base, Aang showed reluctance to harm the man and ordered him to get out of the way. Which Zuko and the man ignored, Aang watched the incredibly short fight and left for Ember Island with the rest of the team once Zuko learned his family could be in danger.
