|A Betrothal Necklace|
Chapter 1: A Betrothal Necklace
Today is the best day ever! Aang had proposed to me! I was so happy to receive the necklace he had carved! It all started like this...
"Hello Katara," Aang said, coming in to our house. He wore his traditional monk robes and medallion. I wore my Water Tribe clothes.
"Hey Aang," I said. I got surprised to see Aang's height. Somehow, he had grown way taller than me. But I was still happy to see him.
"Where's Sokka?" he asked.
"Sokka's on a vacation in Kyoshi Island," I said. We went outside to watch the sunset.
"It's beautiful," I commented.
"It's all right, but I wouldn't use the word 'beautiful', not when you're around," he said. I smiled.
"I've been wanting to ask you this since my seventeenth birthday," he said.
"What?" I asked.
"Katara, daughter of Chief Hakoda and Kya of the Southern Tribe, will you... marry me?" he asked, presenting a betrothal necklace. Tears of joy filled my eyes.
"Yes! I will marry you!" I squealed. I looked at the design. It had a yin yang carved into it. The yin had the Water Tribe insignia and the yang had the Air Nomads insignia.
"It's beautiful. I love it!" I said.
I leaned in and kissed him. He kissed me back. It was just like the kiss we shared in Ba Sing Se. I threw my arms around him. I thought of nothing except this sweet moment. After a while, our lips parted.
"I said this once, and I'll say it again... baby, you're my forever girl," Aang said.
"And I'll say it too... baby, you're my forever boy," I replied. We leaned in to kiss when we heard Dad come in! We broke from our embrace, blushing in embarrassment.
"Am I... interrupting something?" Dad asked.
"Yes," I said.
"Katara... you're not wearing your mother's necklace anymore," he said. "Aang, did you?"
"Yes," he said. Dad looked so proud.
"It will be an honor to have you as a son-in-law," he said.
"One problem: What about Sokka?" Aang asked.
I looked angry.
Hope everyone liked the proposal!
