|Chapter 8: The Aftermath|
The Big Announcement
"Ha ha ha!" said Shi, "Who's going to save you now, stranger!?"
The man started screaming as he inched closer and closer to the edge of the conveyor belt. In just seconds, the man reached the edge of the conveyor belt. As he was about to fall off, the power went out.
"Oh, what?" said Shi. "No matter. I'll just take care of you myself!"
It's not clear what happened after that, but we do know that whatever happened was "worse than anything anyone has ever experienced" as Shi put it.
The next day, Shi had made all of his followers gather everyone in Republic City and made them go to the park. It was there that Shi had said:
"Citizens of Republic City and the world. I have an announcement to make. Yesterday, a stranger brought me the Avatar..."
Many people started having shocked expressions on their faces
"...and I disposed of them both!"
Many people were crying, many were panicking, and many were trying to process what Shi just said.
"Let this be a warning to all that oppose me. Either join me or stay out of my way unless you want to end up like our poor Avatar."
There was a mix of boos and cheers from the crowd.
"In just three days, I will take over the Northern Water Tribe and I will be named the dictator of the world. If you think you can stop me, I dare you to do something about it."
"I will!" said a man in the crowd.
"Who said that?" said Shi.
"I did. I am not going to let you become dictator of the world!"
The man looked almost exactly like Mako from The Legend of Korra only he was shorter and not very strong looking.
"Who do you think you are to stand a chance against me?" said Shi.
"I am Mako III. Grandson of Mako, Korra's husband. My grandfather has taught me firebending moves more advanced than you can comprehend!"
"Well, then I guess I'll see you in the North Pole on Friday," said Shi.
That evening, hundreds of people gathered in the cemetery to remember Jimu and all the Avatars that ever lived.
Mako III stepped onto the podium and said:
"Thank you all for coming. You know, Jimu may not have done much for this world, but many of the other Avatars have. They have maintained peace for who knows how long. But yesterday, the cycle was broken when Jimu was killed in the Avatar State. Let's have a moment of silence for Jimu and all Avatars before him..." Mako continued, "Now, does anyone have anything they wish to say about Jimu?...No? Okay, so long, Avatar Jimu."
Jimu's coffin was put into the ground and dirt was poured on top until there wasn't a hole in the ground anymore.
"Don't be sad, citizens. I will avenge Jimu's death by killing Shi!"
A man in the crowd said, "You're not going to do this all by yourself, are you?"
"Of course not. In fact, if you would like to join my army, please meet me with all of your weapons on the docks this Sunday at midnight. We can all take down Shi together! I mean, aren't you tired of Shi's pointless laws? We can stop him together!"
Most people in the crowd cheered. Mako felt really good. He knew he and his army could take Shi down. All that needed to happen was for Sunday to come.
