|Revenge of the Waterbenders|
Revenge of the Waterbenders
At the North Pole, the soldiers were getting ready to go back home.
"I still can't believe we couldn't find a single person here," said a soldier.
"I still think we should wait here for when the waterbenders come back," said the squadron leader.
"I do too but we've run out of food."
"WHAT? How do you guys eat two days worth of food in one sitting!?"
"Well, it's mainly because of the tub of lard you call your best friend."
"It's not my fault you guys don't eat as much food as me," said the large soldier.
"Whatever," said the leader, "It was stupid of me to do this in the first place."
"What? Leading our squadron?"
"No, thinking it was a good idea to be part of Shi's army."
"How could you say that?"
"Think for a second, have you ever--"
The squadron leader was interrupted by a waterbender who bent a stream of water that knocked him off his feet. The bender did that to the rest of the squadron as well. The bender looked like a fifteen or sixteen year old with long, dark hair.
"Why?" she said with tears in her eyes, "Why did you destroy my lovely home?"
"Because we were ordered by Zolt," said the squadron leader.
"Well I hope you're happy because everything I had is ruined. Do you like doing that? Do you like destroying innocent people's possessions?"
"Yes...I mean...I don't know."
"You're a terrible person. All of you."
"W-w-what are you gonna do?" said one of the soldiers.
There was a long pause.
"J...just go." the girl said almost crying.
The soldiers got in their fighter jets and left with the girl crying as they left.
"I don't feel right," said the leader.
"None of us do," said one of the soldiers.
"No, I mean I feel like that wan't the last time we are going to see that girl."
Back in Republic City
The squadron returned to Republic City that evening. At the airport, the squadron found Zolt there waiting for them.
"So, how did it go?" said Zolt.
"Uh...good," said the squadron leader.
"Is the North Pole destroyed?"
"Yes it is."
"How many civilians did you kill?"
"We might as well have."
There was a long pause.
"So, did you find Shi?" the leader said.
Zolt shook his head.
"Then who's gonna be dictator of the world?" said one of the soldiers.
"I don't know," said Zolt.
There was another long pause.
A deafening explosion broke the silence. The men rushed outside to see a pillar of smoke over by the bay.
"You men!" said Zolt, "Get back in those jets and see what's going on! If there's a rebellion going on over there, shoot down everyone involved. NO EXCEPTIONS."
The men got back in their jets and took off.
"What do you think is going on, captain?" said one of the soldiers.
"I don't know," said the squadron leader, "but I have a feeling it won't be pretty."
They arrived at the bay to see waterbenders on speedboats bending water at the soldiers on the docks.
"Waterbenders? What are they doing here?" said one of the soldiers.
"I don't know and I don't care! Shoot 'em! Shoot 'em all!" said another soldier.
And so, the battle commenced.
The Battle of Yue Bay
Everyone in the squadron shot their fireball guns except the squadron leader.
"What's wrong, sir? were you hit?"
(Do you like destroying innocent people's possessions?)
(You're a terrible person. All of you.)
"I CAN'T TAKE IT!" said the squadron leader. "I QUIT! I DON'T CARE WHAT HAPPENS TO ME!"
He pressed the eject button and pulled open his parachute.
"What was that all about?" said one of the soldiers.
He was interrupted by a jet of water which flung the soldier's plane far away. Things weren't much better down on the docks. Fireballs were being flung left and right. The waterbenders were winning by a long shot. the waterbenders froze most of the soldiers where they stood and some made huge waves that swept soldiers out to sea. Soldiers kept coming and coming but they were going even faster. Not one waterbender died that day, but seventy-two of Shi's soldiers did.
The squadron leader landed on the docks. He saw a speedboat coming straight towards him at a high speed. As it got closer to the docks, it started to slow down. The leader's jaw dropped when he saw who was in the boat. It was the girl from the North Pole. The leader realized that she was behind this...and everything that happened wouldn't have if he and soldiers hadn't destroyed the North Pole.
The girl looked at him and he looked at her. Out of nowhere, a gigantic fireball came down from the sky and destroyed her boat.
"NOOOO!" said the squadron leader.
He jumped into the lake and looked around under the water. He could see the girl. She was unconscious. The leader swam as fast as he could towards the girl.
Meanwhile, Zolt was in Shi's mansion making plans.
Zolt in the Mansion
Zolt looked up at the painting of Shi in the foyer of Shi's mansion.
"Rest in peace, my friend," he said.
"Without Shi, who's going to rule the world?" Zolt asked himself.
He thought that since Zolt was Shi's right-hand man, maybe he should take over. He was a more powerful bender than Shi after all. With the Avatar dead, he was definitely the most powerful bender in the world.
Zolt shot a jet of fire at Shi's painting.
"Hahahahaha! You are worthless compared to me! You were defeated by ice. ICE! You may have killed the Avatar, but still. I have powers like you wouldn't believe. By the way, thank you for teaching me matterbending. It's what really makes me so much better than you. You didn't even use it except for when we were training! What a wuss! You'll see.....am I really talking to a painting?"
A Change of Heart
Back at the docks, The squadron leader threw the girl on the docks with him climbing out of the bay a few seconds later. The girl became conscious about a minute later.
"Ugh...wh...why did you save me?" she said.
"To make up for what I did," said the squadron leader.
"Yes. Look, it was stupid of me to join Shi and his army, but it was more stupid for me to destroy your town. I'm sorry."
"No, it's not. Let me make it up to you. Let me join your army."
"Well, me and my army were going to go back to the North Pole," said the girl, "You can come back with us if you want."
"I'd love to."
