Eel Hounds are large, amphibious lizards that exhibit the ability to swim and run very quickly. They are at least 8 feet tall and roughly 25-30 long, with dark green scales except along is belly from its jaw to its tail. They are used as riding animals, although nothing is known about them outside their domestic environment.
They were featured in "Sozin's Comet, Part 2: The Old Masters" when Sokka, Toph, and Suki rode one to get to the Fire Nation's air fleets. They were mentioned by Piandao to be the fastest thing to ride or swim: "Nothing runs faster over land or swims quicker than a giant Eel Hound", though this could be a exaggeration since many animals have swum and run faster, like the Unagi. They are green in color and very loyal to their owners, similar to bloodhounds. They look slightly similar to a Greyhound, and can run at similar speeds. It is said that they are very hard to tame.
