A Catgator

The Catgator is a large green reptile that is about seven or eight feet long from snout to tail. It is a squatly, short creature and moves with its body close to the ground. Its back is lined with ridges and it has a flat head with barbel whiskers coming from the snout. The cat gator's mouth itself is lined with sharp teeth and its tail has a small fin at the end. Catgators are the bottom-feeders of the swamp they'll eat anything they can get their teeth on, except for the large bugs which inhabit The Swamp, which Sokka makes the mistake of trying to feed it, when the catgator hisses at him Due simply replies, "He don't eat no bugs...that's people food!". Although they seem like ferocious animals, they are actually pretty docile towards humans. To most people these Catgators are considered an extremely ugly creature, but to the folks of the Foggy Swamp Tribe these Catgators are cute pets and have names like Slim and "Derby".

The Catgator appears to be a clean cross between a catfish and an alligator, and exhibits physical characteristics from both of these animals.
