Legend of Korra Reviews Episode 1: Welcome to Repulic City
Seeing as I'm a fan of The Legend of Korra I've decided to write a series of blog posts reviewing all the episodes. I know this is a little late but why not?
Up first. Episode one of The Legend of Korra titled Welcome to Republic City. Now in my opinion this was a pretty good episode but it was also kind of boring at the same time. Not a lot of action and it didn't really explain the start of the series very well if you know what I mean. I did like the opening scene where the men from the Order of the White Lotus come to Korra's house to investigate the claim from Korra's parents that their daughter is the Avatar, and then little Korra busts through the wall and starts earthbending, firebending, and waterbending. Review of Welcome to Republic City
Hello, everyone who clicked on this. I am kuzonkid7 and I will be reviewing today! I watched it with my brothers and sisters.
Okay, first off the opening was great. I was afraid they wouldn't metion the gaang tale. It also left an opening for telling more of Aang's acomplishments as the Avatar. Next scene, I see a snow scape so I am thinking SWT already. See a weird Lotus guy walkin' in and a lady and a dude then Booom. Young Korra acting like she had ten pixie stix. Bending like a nut. Fast Forward, see Korra fightin' firebenders with fire. Those guys were toast with margirine. Then you see Gran Gran? No, Katara as an old lady no less; standing with some more guys. Welcome to Republic City Review
Here is my review of the first Legend of Korra episode. Warning: it contains spoilers, since the whole episode is explained in detail.
Overview: Korra masters firebening and awaits for Tenzin's arrival so she can learn airbending from him while in the Southern Water Tribe. But the plan doesn't work out - Tenzin has to go back to Republic City, and neither he nor the Order of the White Lotus will Korra go to Republic City, too, saying that is too dangerous.
When Tenzin leaves, Korra decides that she needs to master the element and that she would even disobeyed Tenzin's orders to do so. She escapes on Naga, being encouraged to do so by Katara, and secretly sneaks on a ship. The next morning she arrives at Republic City.

Perspectives: Review of Korra premiere
There are a few rules-of-thumb in the popular entertainment world that pundits like to throw around in all their wisdom. These rules always seem to become cast-iron laws of the earth when it comes to sequels or spin-offs. You know them – "it's always worse than the original", "they just recycle the plot", or the classic "it's too different".
After watching the premiere of this particular sequel, though, I think it's fair to say that none of those labels apply here. In fact, I'll go out on a limb and say that if the whole series lives up to the standard of its first two episodes, then those pundits will be in the uncomfortable position of admitting that their supposed laws of the earth have a glaring exception.
