Merry Hanukkah, Happy Christmas and a Merry New Year! Hopefully, you fanon enthusiasts on Avatar Wiki are enjoying yourselves. Well, how about let's hold another fanon contest to close out 2015, shall we?
For our thirteenth contest, we had five entries, which were brief, given the prompt, and had to live up to the challenge of letting each and every word count. Four of those were from authors who have written around the portal left and right, and we even got the opportunity to welcome a newcomer into the fold, making his debut onto the portal with the contest entry. With a creative and interesting idea from and some high-quality and immersive writing from , it was no simple task to select a winner this time around. As always, let us be…Read more >
Happy September, members of the fanon community. It's contest time once again!
As always, let us begin with the results from the last contest, which gave us the pleasure of reading four entertaining entries by some of Avatar Wiki's regular authors. Each of these songfics brought their own character and musical flare to the table, and it took us several days to decide upon our victor. All four participants of Round 13 may use the template .
And now onto Round 14, which will run from September 16 to October 20, given that we're starting so late in the month once again. For this prompt, you can write about anything - that's right. Anything you want, as long as it's related to Avatar, of any genre and style. That is, as long as it is 500 words …Read more >
Hello all fanon portal authors! The time has come for another one of our contests!
So, let us begin by handing out results from our last contest, which was of course, round 12. We got quite a few entries this time, so hopefully we didn't take too long. The prompt for this round was for you guys to introduce us a character.
In third place, we chose , by . It was a great chapter with a very strong character. In second place, it was decided that we would place the almost new story's pilot, which would be . We would like to thank all our participants from Round 12. As usual, you can add a userbox to your profile as shown:

Hello fellow authors of the fanon portal! It's time for yet another round of the Fanonbender’s Fanontastic Fanon Contest, returning for our dozenth installment.
As usual, we'll begin with the results from last contest, which was Round 11. There were fewer entries this time and our response has been delayed, but naturally life goes on, and so do the contests. The prompt of our eleventh round was to show a change in the luck of a focal character, and each of the entries featured the author's own inventive interpretation of where to go with that.
Drumrollgave us a creative piece centering around Katara and Aang's son Bumi during his earlier years. While it was an enjoyable read, it did push the boundaries of believability at times, but its… Read more >
Greetings authors and readers alike, and welcome to the eleventh installment of the Fanonbenders' Fanon Contest!
We'd like to thank all of our participants from Round 10 for submitting thought-provoking, emotional, and thoroughly entertaining pieces pertaining to our Valentine's Day romance theme. We did not have as many entries as we've had in the past, but what that proved was that quality is indeed far more important than quantity, and I'd like to thank you for maintaining that high standard of quality.
Without further adieu, I'd like to congratulate for taking home the win this time with . We believe he best demonstrated proficiency in writing as well as met the full expectations of the Fanonbenders given the prompt. Congrats, Bomo! Ple…

Flameo, Avatar Wikians!
Welcome to the second round of the year for the Fanonbender’s Fanontastic Fanon Contest.
As usual, we'll begin with the results from last contest, which was Round 9. This time around we had seven creative entries to go through. Last month, the prompt was to write an Avatar story or chapter in the second person, which in the grand scheme of writing is not scene very often. In each entry, we got to see the author directly addressing the reader, and with every author the style was shown to coincide with the author's voice in different ways.
So, without further adieu:
's entry had an eloquent and poetic rhythm to it, but and I both had doubts about the plausibility of the premise for the character in question, and felt…Read more >
Not as long a break this time! Huzzah!
One minor note before we get into the contest results: it's been decided that one fanonbender (as there are only three of us) are allowed to participate each month. This gives us a chance to try and win, too! Also, means that people who want to join the fanonbenders but also want to participate can do so as well. Yay!
Okay, so, the results. OR and ARG actually had a discussion without me due to a bit of confusion, but we all got together in the end and decided unanimously that had wowed us once again with her story, . This completely followed the prompt and was exactly what we were looking for. Kudos, Sparks!
, by , managed to grab second place. It was a fun piece that looked at PPD/PND regarding Suyin …Read more >
After a very long hiatus, we're back with a new contest! Huzzah!
Now, for those of you who entered round 7, we haven't quite finished looking at them and deciding on a winner. This is due mostly because we're very slow and have been busy, but now with the addition of a , we're ready to get back on track. So, because it's getting into the month, we thought we'd publish the next prompt and then update the post when the results are out.
...And alas, the time has come to announce last month's results!
We had eight, count 'em, EIGHT great submissions for our "1,000 words" prompt, which is double the amount of entires we've had for the last three contests! Thank you all and congratulations on your spirited participation!
' by told the story of two minor…

Heyo, everybody! It's Agent Slash a.k.a. Suki Fanboy back for the holidays with another fanon writing palooza!
This year, the rules are slightly different. I've decided not to make it a contest this year. The point of this is simply for fanon writers to have something to write about and to bring a little holiday spirit to the wiki. Once again, users must write a holiday-themed one-shot, be it humorous or serious, set in the Avatar world. It can be a real life holiday or a fictional one in the Avatar world, but just make sure it's in the spirit of the season. You can use characters from both A:TLA or LoK. It doesn't matter which. Heck, you can cross them over if you want to! I encourage all of you fanon writers out there to have fun with thi…

Late once again, but never fear~ You're all able to start work on your submissions earlier, and for those of who who don't know, the prompts for the upcoming month will be featured in the WLS each issue! Just keep an eye out.
Now, onto this month—no more newsletter advertising (but if you want to submit something, let us know~!)—the prompt was 'extreme temperature'. We thought it would be easier, for both you and us.
Alrighty, we had four submissions, and all of them were fantastic. , ,, and all put pen to paper and came up with some of the most interesting stories we've read in these contests. Honestly? There's really not a lot of feedback we can give. They're all excellent stories in their own right.
We found Bomochu's st…Read more >
