"Bee Calm" is a comic book that takes place in Book One: Water, originally released in the June 2005 issue of Nickelodeon Magazine and later re-released in Nick Mag Presents: Avatar: The Last Airbender on September 12, 2006. Dark Horse Comics published the comic in Avatar: The Last Airbender — The Lost Adventures on July 5, 2011. Select magazine sellers put the Nick Mag Presents issue on sale three days early, making "Bee Calm" available for purchase on September 9.
Aang, Katara, and Sokka come upon a swarm of scorpion bees in a forest. Although he thinks he can handle them, Aang soon learns not to underestimate these unfriendly insects.
Team Avatar is wandering through a forest. Sokka warns them that with the possibility of Fire Nation soldiers being anywhere, they should be careful not to make themselves known. When a scorpion bee lands on Aang's nose, however, Sokka pushes his paranoia aside and warns his friend of the danger. Although Aang assures Sokka that scorpion bees will not hurt him so long as he does not bother them, Sokka and Katara become more anxious when a swarm begins to attach itself to Aang's entire body. A screech from Momo frightens the scorpion bees and they stir, startling Aang into expelling them from his body with an air blast and attempting to escape.
Upon Sokka's advisory, Aang, now using an air scooter to create distance between himself and the bees, hastens toward a column of smoke under the impression that it will make his pursuers tired. Despite liberation from the scorpion bees, he faces a new issue immediately afterward: the Fire Nation soldier who created the smoke threatens Aang with his sword. Aang manages to make a getaway when a scorpion bee that had clung to his shirt flies to the soldier's nose instead. As his enemy cowers in fear of the bug, Aang advises him that so long as he does not bother the bee, it will not bother him.
