Bearded Cat

A Bearded Cat with Aang and Momo

The Bearded Cat is a small, four legged animal with oversized ears. Like a regular cat, its body length and size are medium, an advantage for finding food, and hiding from predators. Mostly feline in appearance, it has short hair and a tail. Its fur is light brown, except for a "Y" patch of dark brown that covers the bridge of its nose and its eyebrows. The Bearded Cat, does, however, have a few features that set it apart from cats. The pupils of its eyes are not convex like a cat's, but circular. Most striking is its long, white muzzle fur, taking the appearence of a beard.

A Bearded cat is first seen in "The King of Omashu" caught in a fight with Momo. It was using it's agility to chase Momo.

[edit] Connection

The inspiration for the bearded cat seems to be the domestic cat or house cat. The bearded cat is presumed to be domesticated as well since it has been seen so far only in a city environment. The bearded cat appears to be one of the only animals in the world of Avatar to not be of a hybrid species.
