Since Kai, The Flash, and me are the new admins of Avatar Fanon, I was thinking about giving the main page a new style, I mean make it look more interesting. - Zukofan - don't be shy, just ask me something 05:09, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
I totally agree, Zukofan. - KaiTalk 19:54, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
I like it except for the fact that we can't comment anymore :( --AvatarRokusGhost 05:44, February 14, 2011 (UTC)
Umm, ARG, those comment were from two years ago! :) The proposal to change the Fanon Portal took place between The 888th Avatar, Courage the Cowardly User and myself yesterday on IRC. Any questions, do so on either of our talk pages. Will94(Talk - TTFF - Teru) 05:53, February 14, 2011 (UTC)
Why does the image at the top left corner of the page link to the mainpage, and not the fanon mainpage? Just wondering. I do that a lot :P -- Dudewaldo4My stories 22:59, September 22, 2010 (UTC)
I think you should add a list of fanon authors, like you have stories and characters. That way people could see everything that author has. . . or pick an author at random. You should seriously consider adding one.
That navigation box underneath the slider has become so crowded with links recently that I can't make heads or tails of anything inside. We really need to take out a few of them to make it less messy, and from now on have an orderly system to figure out what links go up there so it doesn't get like it is now. I remember that box used to have two rows, and now it has five. Maybe we can just link the policies, official categories and main pages in that box, and create something else at the bottom all the contests, groups, and activities. Just when they're all crowded in that neat box, it sort of messes up what it's for. What do you think? —Preceding unsigned comment added by BlackMonkey (wall • contribs) This note was added on ~~~~~.
A lot of the pages have good reason to be up there, but I think we have some room to trim down. I think we can get rid of the news and updates link, as the central page is essentially dead now. Same goes for the noticeboard. I don't think many people use this page to find character pages. I would still keep the reviews and other groups there, as those are good resources for newcomers. --AvatarRokusGhost(Message me • Read my fanon) 20:27, August 5, 2012 (UTC)
Should we take down the past reviews? That can be found on the FRS main page, anyway. But I agree with everything else. I never even knew we had a news and updates link. Oh, and what about requesting an editor. That too can be found from the Newsletter link. HenryJh98(talk • Avatar:The Sole Woodbender • Fanon Detective!) 16:03, August 6, 2012 (UTC)
Maybe leave it to just official fanon pages and user groups, and no pages that can be accessed from other pages in the nav box, like Henry pointed out. BlackMonkeyTalk - Rhythm 14:45, August 8, 2012 (UTC)
We could do something like that for the top. I'd like to link to most of everything we do now in some way, though - whether it's a new cluster at the bottom of the page, or maybe having the first two rows at the top and then a "more" tab to show the rest. --AvatarRokusGhost(Message me • Read my fanon) 21:11, August 9, 2012 (UTC)
Why not move the nomination of featured fanon to a thumbnail like in the Avatar Wiki User Awards "Vote Now!" ? It sounds attracting people, more than just words like that. AcerEvan Seek anything about fanon! 23:36, August 11, 2012 (UTC)
I like the idea of a thumbnail for FF since it would stand out - and the featured process could use some more attention, but I'm not sure how that would be able to work with the rest of the page. As for the other pages, I removed the ones we already agreed were inactive, but left the rest there for now. The top row I put all the pages for creating and starting a fanon, the middle row for getting noticed (ads, reviews, interviews, etc.) and the bottom for other events like being featured, awards, fanonbending, the WLS, etc. --AvatarRokusGhost(Message me • Read my fanon) 21:00, August 13, 2012 (UTC)
I think below the navbox, we can put "Featured Fanon" or something like that, which it will more attract people than the old one. :) AcerEvan Seek anything about fanon! 19:30, August 17, 2012 (UTC)
Yeah. You see, people are going to vote if they are: 1) Have read the fanon (Of course) 2) Don't know anything about the nomination. AcerEvan Seek anything about fanon! 09:26, August 17, 2012 (UTC)
Maybe a link to the genre category as well. If you think about it, that's one of the most logical choices of anything for being there. People come here to read and write stories, and this lets them search for one in a different way. --AvatarRokusGhost(Message me • Read my fanon) 15:35, August 31, 2012 (UTC)
Hey, fanon folks. As we know, the Fourth Fanon Awards is almost there. I mean, almost end. I know this is a late proposal, but I would like to propose that the fanon portal main page will have a shortcut to the awards; so newbie could see and join it. You can see them here. Agree? AcerEvan Seek anything about fanon! 12:21, August 23, 2012 (UTC)
We already have a link on the main page, don't we, in the nav box? BlackMonkeyTalk - Rhythm 12:26, August 23, 2012 (UTC)
Alright, but maybe something longer, like what I have in my sandbox, so there's less white space on the main page. BlackMonkeyTalk - Rhythm 12:40, August 23, 2012 (UTC)
I like BM's version. It says more about what's going on and while it may be long, the Fanon Awards are only a temporary event. --AvatarRokusGhost(Message me • Read my fanon) 17:05, August 23, 2012 (UTC)
Done. Maybe we could keep the space for a button to featured fanon & article nominations like proposed in the section above? BlackMonkeyTalk - Rhythm 17:50, August 23, 2012 (UTC)
Hey, fanon folks. I've see the September 2012 version of Avatar Fanon main page. It's not really nice, as the featured articles and fanon series overview are too long / the blog posts are too short. I would like to propose, to change the blog list count from 3 to 4, so the featured column is as long as the blog one. AcerEvan Seek anything about fanon! 06:36, September 1, 2012 (UTC)
Going back to our discussion on the navigation, I think that making it collapsable might be a good idea. What do you guys think? --AvatarRokusGhost(Message me • Read my fanon) 17:17, October 2, 2012 (UTC)
What is collapsable? And what do you think if we're going to give a link to the competition; or some competition? AcerEvan Seek anything about fanon! 09:43, October 4, 2012 (UTC)
Collapsible means that it has a "show" and "hide" button, so that all the info is there, but it doesn't necessarily take up that much space. And no, we do not need to link to any competitions from the main page. Competition blog, while popular and encourageable, are not official events, and they're already linked to in the blog listing. --AvatarRokusGhost(Message me • Read my fanon) 09:20, October 5, 2012 (UTC)
I see. But... Thinking about collapsible, I think... No. Newbie(s) will didn't notice it until they have "a little" experience... No offense AcerEvan Seek anything about fanon! 15:50, October 11, 2012 (UTC)
