Currently, in the transcript portal, the graphic novel commentaries have their own separate pages. The goal of this discussion is to establish the best method to intertwine the commentaries into the appropriate position in the stories to provide a contextual reference. Ultimately the attempt is to maximize convenience and accessibility, while avoiding disrupting the flow of the story on the pages of the corresponding graphic novel transcripts.
There are two methods that have been proposed thus far, both of which can be found here. The first example in the article shows a [hide/show] style of revealing the commentary upon clicking the link, while the remaining instances on the page feature a method that provides a link to the commentary page, specifically to the comment pertaining to that scene. I believe either option sufficiently accomplishes the goal, it is simply a matter of preference, so this discussion serves as a means to identify which method is more desired by the wiki community. By choosing the first option, the commentary pages would no longer have a place and should be removed after the information is extracted. Additionally, there a many variations or completely different methods that could be chosen. Ziryerx (wall • contribs • fanon) 14:19, June 10, 2016 (UTC)
- I'm most in favor of the collapsing method, as it allows a reader to continue reading just the story if they please or the extended version without leaving the page. I would change the title to "Library Edition commentary" to be more clear as to what commentary they may expect when clicking the button. Lady Lostris vstf (talk • HotN) 19:02, June 11, 2016 (UTC)
Agreed, the former option is quicker. I also have a question - if there are multiple commentaries on a page, each regarding different scenes on a page, would the two (or more) comments be grouped together into one large collapsible box, or spread out to match their respective scene? @LL Duly noted, I agree. That's a simple fix that can be applied.
@SorcererSupreme Either is a viable option; personally, I would say grouped together, since that is how they would be read in the actual Library Edition, but it is not a matter on which I have a strong opinion.
