The current image is also used further down on the page, where it fits its respective battle. Considering that there are other unused battle images, it makes sense to change the profile image to another image we already have uploaded somewhere else. A such, I made a selection of three images. #1 is a unicum: it features no flashy bending, just a nonbender going at someone else. For that reason alone, I kind of like it :-) #2 portrays the battle between mecha suits, hinting at how much more modernized the fighting tools have become in 174 AG. #3 depicts the big battle and the antagonist/protagonist (sort of) of the last book.
Personally, I prefer the first just because of its simplicity and the fact that it showcases a nonbender in battle. Lady Lostris vstf (talkHotN) 12:17, January 14, 2016 (UTC)

Approved for discussion. I am leaning more toward PR2, because I like highlighting the more mechanized evolution of duels by 174 AG. Waterbending emblem Water Spout 16:03, January 18, 2016 (UTC)
PR 1 might be unique, but I do think it's rather dull, and I don't really see it as a proper profile image. I still like the current, since it is the most significant battle in the series, but Lostris' argument for changing it is sound. PR 3 doesn't really show a duel, so that brings me to PR 2. I agree with Water Spouts reasoning, that it's a nice display of the mecha tanks that we see a lot of in Book 4, and strictly speaken, also appeases Lostris' need for a non-bender, as Zhu Li is piloting one of the two mecha tanks pictured ;). So yeah, I'm for PR 2. Aang Cosmic AvatarAang7 (My wall - My fanon) 19:33, January 18, 2016 (UTC)
Just to be clear, I don't "need" there to be a non-bender and Zhu Li being a pilot is irrelevant as #2 is just "clash of the robots" :-p It's just a nice touch in my opinion to go for simplicity and highlight that not all battles in the Avatar world are fought with flashy elements or cool toys. Nonbenders are a part of the world too (the entire TLoK book 1 was about that), so I do think it's somewhat sad to dismiss a nonbending duel as "dull" just because the sparks aren't literally flying off the image. As for context: there are another robot image on the page itself, but nowhere is there a nonbending duel featured. Lady Lostris vstf (talkHotN) 20:08, January 18, 2016 (UTC)
For the record, I'm not dismissing it as 'dull' because it's with a non-bender, I'm doing that because I think that particular image is a bit dull. I prefer #2 because it's more unique to 174 AG, as the only other mecha tank battle consists of two whole punches between Hiroshi and Asami in the Book 1 finale. Also, I do believe the guy that Kai fought for the food was a non-bender, or at least, he didn't display any. Aang Cosmic AvatarAang7 (My wall - My fanon) 20:50, January 18, 2016 (UTC)

The guy may have been a nonbender, but the image portraying that battle has airbending on it, and on the Duels (174 AG) page, there is another image of the same fight #2 comes from, so the tanks are already portrayed visually on the page. That's what I meant with "no nonbending visualization", because every always seem to have something flashy drawing attention away from them. Lady Lostris vstf (talkHotN) 20:58, January 18, 2016 (UTC)

I personally like proposal 2 the best, as it demonstrates both the standard duel plus the major technological davancements made in that time. SorcererSupreme21 (wallcontribs) 06:54, January 20, 2016 (UTC)

While it's not ideal that he's looking to the side, it's a downside that is covered by the fact that the image is in color and thus has better lighting than the current. Considering this is also a change for a new page, I'd like to call for the one day procedure if everyone is in agreement. Lady Lostris vstf (talkHotN) 20:18, February 1, 2016 (UTC)

Approved and support per proposal. ― Thailog 21:50, February 9, 2016 (UTC)
I oppose the proposal, solely because (after reviewing the episode) I do not believe the character in the proposed image is intended to be the same character. Granted, both have very similar character design; however, the captain has additional chin-strap facial hair that the second guard does not. Furthermore, the captain is voiced by Dee Bradley Baker, while the character displayed in the proposed image is not. Perhaps this should be discussed elsewhere, but I felt inclined to mention it here. Bolin spriteZiryerxPainted Lady (wallcontribsfanon) 23:19, February 9, 2016 (UTC)
I agree with Ziryerx. SorcererSupreme21 (wallcontribs) 07:29, February 13, 2016 (UTC)
Please consider the following: Dee Bradley Baker was not officially credited with voicing the captain, he was just credited with an additional voice. Additionally, what Ziryerx describes to be "chin-strap facial hair" seems to me to just be the chin strap of the helmet itself. As you can see in the proposed, the helmet has such a strap, and when you couple it with these images, one and two, (admittedly, you have to look closely), you can see that the captain has no "chin-strap facial hair", just what looks to be a chin-strap. Lady Lostris vstf (talkHotN) 11:10, February 13, 2016 (UTC)
I don't particularly think they would have gone out of their way designing two similar characters, or recycling the same character design without knowing it would be taken as the same character. I think LL gives solid arguments for her reasoning, and I agree with her on this one. Waterbending emblem Water Spout 17:58, February 23, 2016 (UTC)
Not that I'm completely disagreeing, but wouldn't it be more out of the way for the character designers to create two separate characters rather than only one? Additionally, a similar counterargument could be made that they did go out of the way to use two different voice actors for the characters to distinguish the two. Bolin spriteZiryerxPainted Lady (wallcontribsfanon) 18:29, February 29, 2016 (UTC)

A factual correction: there is no proof beyond personal opinion that they used two different voice actors -unless an objective source has been found since the last time that notion was raised. Lady Lostris vstf (talkHotN) 22:25, February 29, 2016 (UTC)

Hi there, I am the comic artist this article is about. Reason I’m requesting the photo change is because, frankly, the one up there is old and I look kind of starved and ghoulish in it (probably because it was taken when I was still in the Marines) compared to the present. I have uploaded 2 replacement options, first one is a recent photo, the other is a recent self-portrait. I understand that for wiki purposes real photos might be preferred, but if it is acceptable to use an artist’s own drawn representation, that would be my personal preference. Whichever image the community decides on, thanks for your time and for including me on the Avatar crew member roster!

PS: I have spoken with Lady Lostris about this who has verified my identity and directed me to this page, but if you need to reach me privately for whatever reason, my contact info is in the “About” page of my website at http://reaganlodge.com Reaganlodge (wallcontribs) 16:52, February 20, 2016 (UTC)

Following the standard of this wiki, I'd prefer the real photo to be in the infobox image. However, I cannot deny personal preference of the subject of the page (spirits, that sounds clinical, sorry ^^") to not have their real image out there but a drawn one instead. After all, we all also have our own chosen avatars to represent us, so I'd say the same holds true for Reagan. As such, I support the change to proposal 2. The proposal offers the exact same perspective as the current image, but provides far better quality, lighting, and there are no ships or shadows that detract from the image quality. Waterbending emblem Water Spout 03:48, May 16, 2016 (UTC)

Agreed. SorcererSupreme21 Iroh Sprite OWL Outfit (Contribs | Editcount) 5:38, May 16, 2016 (UTC)
I oppose. This exact same proposal has been made before, that is to say, the reverse of it. Initially we had the proposed image as the current and per this discussion it was change to the current image. The reasons that compelled the change then still count now: It is the exact same image as the one we're using for United Republic of Nations and by using the shot at dawn, it has a more nature feeling to it and the lighting - as well as the ships - places an automatic highlight on the water instead of the city, which is exactly what we'd want for an infobox showcasing the water.
As a minor additional note, the quality of the current is a screenshot directly from the DVD and poses no issue at all for the infobox. Especially not since it portrays the city vaguer, which is a plus for the focus on the water. Lady Lostris vstf (talkHotN) 07:26, May 16, 2016 (UTC)
Hahaha I didn't think about that. I'd like to change my support because LL is right – the current, while maybe not as aesthetically pleasing (as in, we wouldn't use it as an image for the city or URN), the glare does a pretty good job of directing you to the water over the building. Frui (🌹🐝🐝🐝) 08:10, May 16, 2016 (UTC)
That is true. Like Fruipy, I thus change thine support per the reasoning of Lady Lostris of Lostrington. SorcererSupreme21 Iroh Sprite OWL Outfit (Contribs | Editcount) 6:12, May 18, 2016 (UTC)

While there is nothing really wrong with the current, I think it's worth having a discussion on this, as I would prefer to see it changed from one of the factories to the headquarters from where the entire company is run. There is a wider shot of the tower, but that has other buildings in the foreground, which I want to avoid. Aang Cosmic AvatarAang7 (My wall - My fanon) 18:32, May 24, 2016 (UTC)

Considering that we also don't know whether or not that specific factory is even still in use, I support this change. Just for reference and to give the option, I also included the wider shot AA7 was talking about (though you'll have to actually click on the images, as the gallery function doesn't give you the full view of the image). The proposal is more frontal with less of an open mouth, cropped to one of the right ratios, and is better in quality. Since this is also a new page, I'd like to fast track this proposal into a 1 day discussion if possible. Waterbending emblem Water Spout 21:40, September 23, 2016 (UTC)

Approved for discussion.
I'm not entirely sold on the proposal. While the ratio of the current could indeed be better—as well as the quality, though it seems like that could be an easy fix with a more high quality reupload of the same issue—I don't really like the expression in the proposed. The current is indeed a happy shot, but the proposed strikes me as awkward. There is just something about the positioning of her eyes and the awkward open mouth that's off putting to me.
As such, I'm all for a higher quality picture of the current with, if possible, the more preferred standard ratios (though let's also be honest here, we often make exceptions to the ratio requirement on comic images, so that on itself shouldn't really be a reason to change). Lady Lostris vstf (talkHotN) 21:58, September 23, 2016 (UTC)
I for one, find the current one to be awkward. I'm not really a fan of the text bubble being there, but I do like the facial expression better, so I am on-board for now. Hopefully we get the chance to place a better profile picture for her in the future with the upcoming comics though. Tono555 Korra-chao2 23:09, September 23, 2016 (UTC)

The proposed, although an art rendering by the artist, is a better representation of the pythonaconda and clearly shows its features, whereas the current image places more emphasis on Bolin and fails to highlight the creature effectively due to the lighting. So these are basically the same image, but the current image has "RP" on it for Rating Pending, but we actually know the current rating, its T for Teen, so I thought an image that had the rating would be more fitting for the page. As a consequence the only version I could find that included the "T" has the PC logo on it as well (although the current has Play Station logos on it), so there's that to consider. If somebody finds a version of the cover without any extra lgos that just includes the T for Teen that would be ideal, and I encourage them to upload that as a proposal. So the proposal is less than ideal, it's not in color and it's not directly taken from the comic. That being said, I feel like it suits Jargala as a character much better than the current does, it shows her personality and it's a much better look at her, it's not an action shot and doesn't have a distracting background, and is generally of much higher quality. That being said, I can understand why some people might be hesitant for it so I think some discussion would be good. Fire Pabu Sprite Ferret 00:39, September 20, 2017 (UTC)

I wasn't going to accept this change because I don't believe it meets the criteria for a profile image, but I was unable to find our concrete rules (and it's been long enough that I forget). The lack of colour and lack of clear shot of her face makes this a change that I must disagree with. While the current isn't perfect, it's still better than the proposal. Frui (🌹🐝🐝🐝) 22:46, September 21, 2017 (UTC)
Yeah, that's completely understandable.
