Edit
I want to become an administrator because I genuinely believe I can help the wiki more with the abilities given to an administrator. I think that it is generally agreed on this wiki that I will not misuse administrator powers. There are also projects that I currently am thinking of (e.g. Page about shipping, enhancement of site popularity) that would be possible/easier with adminship.
I believe that I would be a administrator who is balanced between content and technical expertise. For articles, I have an excellent grasp of English, particularly written expression. I finished last year at the top of the of advanced English class at my school. Since I speak Chinese at home, I also have a good understanding of that language, and that nation's culture, which is a key part of Avatar. Outside of articles, I have a good understanding of wiki/HTML coding, and wiki dynamics, enough to write code for templates, sidebars etc. What I don't know (which basically is the particularly advanced stuff like monaco.css) I can learn very quickly.
My greatest ideal in life is fairness and equality. I would be a fair administrator who would be forgiving and able to give second chances. As an administrator, I would act much the same way as I do now. I do not believe that administratorship is a position of authority, and I believe that all users are equal in power, just different in terms of access. I would also be brave enough to talk about topics that should be talked about but no-one wants to talk about. For example, we've already had the contentious issue of creating a non-biased, informative, page about shipping.
I have been the most active editor on this wiki for two months now. In those two months, I have made thousands of edits, and have been even more active that the active Bureaucrat. To date, I am nearing 5000 edits, with just over half of those being content edits. As of now, I am the second biggest contributor to this wiki of all time, by total and by articles (second to Omni, ahead of Greekpimp). This means that I have the highest number of edits of any autoconfirmed user, with more than double the number of total edits of the next autoconfirmed user (Energybender), and nearly double the number of article edits of the next autoconfirmed user (TLane).
My article contributions to this wiki are undeniably huge. The edit count for articles (nearly 2500) speaks for itself. I have created 30 articles, and have made large content contributions to the World of Avatar project (which I regard as my crowning achievement and and an incredibly successful project), and to many of the event pages (Battle at Wulong Forest, where I more than doubled the article's size, and Coup of Ba Sing Se, where I wrote most of the article). I have also created a number of templates (section templates) and remade others (Template:Stub). I also wrote the policy page. I patrol the Recent changes page daily for vandalism and poor edits. I also am known for my "reorganisation" project, and I have cleaned up many pages on the wiki, to the point where I have been asked to rewrite a page. Further, I also have an introductions for all articles project, and I have written a number of introductions on important pages.
I have also been heavily involved in the community. I have become a very influential editor. Around half of my edits (well over 2000) are not article edits, and are devoted to this area. I am a very well known user because I have made a storm of edits to discussion pages, and my user talk page is a popular destination. I am archiving at a faster rate than any other user. I keep very calm in discussion. I never make personal attacks, even when personal attacks are leveled at me. I am forgiving and I believe in second chances. I am fair to all users. I have welcomed around half (or at least a very large portion) of all new editors since December, and many of those are still on excellent relations with me. I have also been involved in a number of community projects, such as the sidebar and the banner. I have created many, if not most of the forums that are up now.
Below is a list of projects I have devoted a lot of time to.

Note: I went missing after I created my account on the 1st of November, as it was the lead-up to my end-of-year exams, and only came back on the 29th. December 2008

|
I have created 30 articles to date.
It should be noted that I do not take "credit" for my contributions and the pages I created. Anyone is free to copy and use whatever contributions I have made, as per the licensing. This is merely a list of what I have done, as a reference for the convenience of other users.
Concerns have been raised that I have not been here as long as other candidates, and that it would thus be unfair to give me administratorship. I disagree strongly. In my opinion, experience should not decide who becomes an administrator. Though experience is undoubtedly important, I believe ability is far more important than experience. Also, I have not seen this happen on this wiki. Omnibender (in 2 months as a registered user) became the third admin on this wiki, before Zero (6 months) and Puragus (8 months) who were more established users. I do not believe we should start now.
In fact, giving out positions based on how long an applicant has been there does not happen in our world. Many would deride that notion as in fact being unfair. In our world, ability is always more important than experience. For example: Take it from the view of the manager who needs to hire a computer technician for the company. Would he prefer to hire the experienced technician who did okay at computing at university, or the relatively inexperienced technician (who does happen to have three months previous job experience) who was the best student in the class? Another example: If the world was to give out its political leadership positions to the most experienced people, then today, John McCain, not Barack Obama, would be the President of the United States. (I should note that I do not think adminship is a political affair; I am just using it as an example.)
Neither do I believe that I am inexperienced. I have been editing on Avatar Wiki for three months (more than 100 days), though as an IP I had followed the wiki for most of this year, and I have knowledge of what happened many months ago.
Since I believe I have strong abilities in both the content and coding departments, as evidenced by my 5000 high-quality edits, and I have enough experience, I think I deserve adminship.
Finally, let me quote a Chinese poem.
白日依山盡
黃河入水流
欲窮千里目
更上一層樓
Which means:
The white sun sets behind the hills
The Yellow River enters the sea
To get a view of a thousand li around
Climb another storey of the tower
Why do I quote this? This can be applied to why I want adminship. I can see that great view of the sunset, the hills and the river. I can see that Avatar Wiki is progressing. But if I ascend that extra storey (i.e. Receive adminship), then I can see further, and do more to advance this wiki.
You may also want to refer to my first post at Forum:New Admins 2009.
If i receive adminship, I will dedicate it to the 181+ victims of the recent 2009 Victorian bushfires, which is the deadliest Australian bushfire in history. I live less than one hundred kilometres away from the bushfires, and I am lucky that no-one immediately related or known to me has been injured.
Feel free to ask me any questions. Thanks, The 888th Avatar (Talk) 23:25, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

Edit
I am requesting adminship on the sole basis of that I think it would ease the daily difficulties that I face as a regular user; and thus help the wiki as a whole. I have been editing here for six months now (since July 19th) and have contributed more than what my editcount states. I originally started editing here with my creation of the Energybending page, as well as fixing that collapsibility problem that we had here since Avatar Wiki's creation, not to mention the mediation between Zero2001 and Felinoel that I did (see my original talk page). I may not have created many pages, just about 10 content pages, and a few templates such as the original Template:Welcome-anon before it was moved, but I think that it would be a fair statement to say I helped with community decisions, users, and brainstormed a lot of ideas that we had later evolved, including the concept of welcoming IP addresses and even marketing it to a reluctant community. Besides, I really don't want to take credit for whatever I have done; it's extremely selfish, and you really can't take credit for work that you help or even create on a wiki, which would destroy the concept of a wiki. This is why I will not add a list of pages that I have created, nor shall I mention them in great detail. Anyways, I usually check this wiki once every while while I am on my computer (which is quite often) while watching through the Recent Changes with my automated Ajax updater (ask me, I'll give you the code, really handy), so my response to vandalism and users in need of a talking to/block would be speedy. Yet, I would not use my position as a way to intimidate or even suggest that I would outrank them, as I personally believe and have believed since I have joined, that all editors are equal and thus everyone's opinion counts. This comes along with how I won't abuse the position; something that comes without saying. I am sure by this point, half a year later since I've joined that the community understands my intentions for this wiki; to succession.
- A note; if I become an admin, I could administer my bot to administrative tasks, such tasks could include mass deletion of the unused files, or old IP talk pages, etc. (Upon admin and community agreement of course).
- Updating all the now terrible MediaWiki descriptions would be easier and much more efficient.
- Designing and fixing errors in codes of protected pages would be enabled and would limit any errors from arising.
- I am both experienced and skilled, "it's like the best of both worlds." (We all know who this quote is from...)
My adminship would demolish the wait time of having MediaWiki pages changed after appropriate discussion, and I even have experience as an admin on a wiki. I doubt that any user could honestly suggest that I have ever showed irresponsibility, or even to be any-bit irresponsible in the future. By this time, I believe that I have showed the maturity to be able to handle any change in user rights that I gore important things over one or two word spelling mistakes (not saying there is anything wrong with that, I just don't do it). I continue editing daily, and accepting bot requests from users who have an idea to bet. With my six months of Avatar Wiki experience I bring some worthwhile abilities in the template and coding department, as well as wiki markup and general wiki editing knowledge, which are all skills that an administration can't have enough of. Yet, these are not overshadowed by my people skills that I employ to the users I talk to, so I can be nicer to the newer users, and stricter with the older users that have a better understanding of how things work. I notice when I usually talk to the new-new users in a nice tone, they are prone to stay, versus when others are harsher to them, even though we convey the same message. At the end of the day, they are the ones thanking me, instead of vandalizing in anger. :)
As of now; June 19 2013 at 23:41, I have made 4,056 edits on my regular account 14,586 on my bot account
This may seem somewhat low, but I prefer the bigger picture type of editing, where as I only edit metter this wiki. I recently employed by bot to license all the images, as per Wikia's copyright rules in order to limit any legal problems that we may encounter in the future, whcih ran an enormous script. Yet, I am still accepting requests for my bot, and trying to find better ways to positively influence this wiki as a whole. At this point I am even trying to have us add new welcoming buttons that will enable easier welcoming, and this should even encourage the new users to welcome new users. As an admin, I would be able to update the codes if my proposition was accepted, and limit any hassle on the current admin's hands.
During my time editing on this wiki, I have noticed a few different things that would be worth changing, and as an admin I would enjoy being the community tool that is close with new and older users to help and listen to them. In a modest as possible way, I think I have spent a lot of time perfecting this wiki, and would enjoy perfecting it even more as an admin. I am aware that my request may fail, but I just thought I should give requesting adminship a try after I noticed that I personally think I am ready for it. I'll leave the decision up to the community, and then with Omnibender, and I hope you all will see it the way I did. I'm open to questions, feel free to ask or criticize me through any means from my talk page, to a private email, and thank you for the opportunity. Happy editing. Edit
In my 5+ months of helpful contributions, I've never once faltered. I've remained cognitive to the meaning of this project, in that Avatar Wiki can and will be a complete project on all things Avatar. If you've read my user page, I've promised to make it a better, more informative place. This position will improve the guarantee to do just that. There are several reasons why I want to be an administrator. This promotion will allow me to have a greater role and influence in community activities, including those discussed solely by the administration. I have made well over 2,200+ edits here, about 800 devoted to mainspace, as well as a large number of talk page messages, all of which include the welcoming of countless new users, and suggestions to admins regarding my personal ideas to benefit and perfect the wiki, and to our many registered and anonymous users, to help them out. I have been one of the few people who has convinced a fellow, Luvingazula, to stick around and turn his act the other way. I'm very proud of this accomplishment, because I believe everyone deserves a second chance. Also, I hope to make a bot in the near future, which I'll use to contribute automaticallly on large scale projects.
I've learned over the course of my time here, however, that admins must be firm and professional when dealing with people who pose a threat to the continuum of harmony. The illegality of the actions of vandals must be dealt with accordingly, which has so conveniently been placed into a working policy. I promise, as an Avatar Wiki admin, that I will correct/deal with those who make poor decisions. According to our current statistics, and the community tab on the sidebar, I am the second highest autoconfirmed contributor, and and such, my mind at work in an admin's shoes would gain standing such that an artist could paint the wonder.
As it may seem that my current number of edits is low, that is honestly the nature of an administrator whose primary purpose is organization of what is already here. With my bot, not only will I have credit for far more contributions made, but I will skyrocket, as Ozai had in Sozin's Comet, Part 3: Into the Inferno. My other big purpose, as I've stated previously, is to demolish the expectations of menacing vandals. That sort of thing is completely unacceptable. What is also big is the fact that things like blocks and protections don't even count as an edit. The admins here would have three times as many edits as they do now if those sort of things were in counting. As discipline is my specialty, this gives extraordinary preference to choosing me, as I am powerless in these ways as an autoconfirmed user. I will enforce our rules diligently, and orderly. You have my word.
A few immediate reasons I desire adminship are:
- The fact that I have a week, beginning this Saturday, off from school, which I can use to progress and implement overall changes.
- I will dutifully make known my inputs on administrative matters in any case questioned.
- I don't want to be cut off from articles and templates that are protected, and I appreciate the ability to be able to make them safe from vandals, as well.
- Last, and probably most important, I want to finish the vandal welcome templates, which are already a work in progress, as seen here, with the many benefits that come with adminship.
My duties as an autoconfirmed user have resulted in the following pages being created:
Articles:
- Book 1: Water, Volume 1
- Book 1: Water, Volume 2
- Book 1: Water, Volume 3
- Book 2: Earth, Volume 2

I want to be a good administrator because I think that I can help this Avatar Wiki to be better and most complete. I would meet all the requirements (quality of contributions, not abuse the powers, etc). I have been helping in this Wiki only since November (2008) and of course I have seen all the episodes of Avatar. The best and most of my contributions have been in the World of Avatar pages (Mainly Econonomy, Arts, Organizations, Weaponry, Sports and Games, Flora and Fauna and Astronomy) and in Avatar: Legends of the Arena. I have done approximately 1.000 edits and I have created 24 pages, including 3 of the Category of World of Avatar; and I have helped to fix pages deleted or edited by vandals. Recently, I have been working in two pages: Weaponry in the World of Avatar and Suki's relationships. For the future, I had plan to improve pages, like: Avatar Comics, Fashion in the World of Avatar and Tea.
Pages Created:
- Astronomy in the World of Avatar
- Sports and Games in the World of Avatar
- Weaponry in the World of Avatar
- Suki's relationships
- Pentapox
- Fire Temple
- Ozai's beach house
- Planetary calendar room
- Crystal Catacombs
- Fire Nation army factory
- Gondola
- Second Raid of the Southern Water Tribe - Now: Southern Water Tribe raids
- Private Fire
- Sozin's Comet: The Final Battle
- Aang's School Days
- Sokka, the Sword Master
- Love Potion #8
- Lost Scrolls
- Dragon moose
- Jin Wei
- Wei Jin
- Book 1: Water, Volume 4
- Book 1: Water, Volume 5
- Book 2: Earth, Volume 1
Thanks for read my section, and if anyone has a question about this, write in my User Talk Page. Dcasawang1 02:28, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

Since I joined this wiki around early last year, I have made 866 and growing contributions. While I have made a couple of mistakes and gotten into a few debacles, I still have a lot of reasons for why I would be a good admin.
For one, I have successfully started a good ten new systems and set ups. I have started battle pages and their templates, the quote, the new dating system, along with several others, listed below.
I have largely added to the wiki's article count, including templates and normal pages. I am devoted and enjoy editing here, know several wikia codes and set ups convenient to making interesting layouts. I know how to be responsible with admin rights, as I am admin on two sites, along with bureaucrat on three.
I can deal calmly with user and IP problems, just as I can greatly expand any page at a whims. When a page is in need of in-universe terms or actually sections, I will quickly add them. If a page uses primarily tacky out of universe terms, mentioning directly that an episode is when this happened, I'll fix that and make it a clarified in-universe version.
The following is a list of contributions that show my large contributions to the wiki:
Templates
- Created Template:Scroll
- Correctly named Template:TheWar
- Fixed every message template to actually include a quote and relevant image.
- Created Template:Future
- Created Template:AC
- Created Template:Acan1 and 2.
- Created Template:War
- Created Template:Duel
- Created Template:Battle
- Created Template:Expand
- Created Template:Reflist
- Created Template:Imagelink
- Created Template:USERNAME
- Created Template:Conjecture
- Created Template:Speech
- Created Template:Quote
- Created Template:Era and Template:Era/Eraicon
- Created Template:Event
Pages
- Created Duel in Wulong Forest, now Battle at Wulong Forest
- Created Battle on the Drill, now Battle of the Drill
- Created First and Second Raid on the Southern Water Tribe, now Southern Water Tribe raids
- Created Duel in the Tea Shop, now the very long Conspiracy of Ba Sing Se
- Made content and created Conspiracy of Ba Sing Se
- Created Battle in Old Ba Sing Se, now Coup of Ba Sing Se
- Correctly applied template on Coup of Ba Sing Se
- Added correct template in all battle and war pages.
- Created War of Chin the Conqueror
- Created Earth Kingdom rebellions
Systems and Major Wiki Additions
- Created the new dating system, History of the World of Avatar
- Created the quote system and the template for it, Template:Quote
- Battle and war pages, a lot primarily started, made, or added by me.
Thank you for your time. —Excelsior, The Flash - (Talk to me, talk to me, talk to me bay-bay!) 22:12, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

Nomination
Edit
I, The 888th Avatar, nominate Thailog for adminship on Avatar Wiki. I think he has been an excellent user on the wiki. He has been extremely mature, has overhauled our site with a brilliant skin, and has in short managed to do a job of an admin while not an admin. I wish Thailog good luck.
