Aang in the films |
Avatar Aang, an Air Nomad, is the current Avatar, the manifestation of the world in human form, and thus the only person in the Avatar world who can use all four bending disciplines: Airbending, Waterbending, Earthbending and Firebending. He is also one of the few Avatars to use Energybending, and the only one to use it during the series.

[edit] History
[edit] Northern Water Tribe
Sometime after the Siege of the North, Aang was requested to meet the Tribe Elder, Master Wei. First, though, he was confronted by wolves, but easily defeated (not killing) them. As he did this, he noticed and picked up a Water Skin. Once reaching the Elder, he was asked to go and investigate the disappearances of Waterbenders from the tribe. He ventured back to near where he was, going into an ice cave. After dodging ice and defeating more wolves, he could not find anything. But as he returned to the tribe camp, he saw Zuko's ship docked in at the edge of the snow, and hastily ran back.
As he ran to the tribe, fighting off a few wolves, he saw, unclear, in the distance Katara being taken by Fire Soldiers. Once he finally reached the tribe camp, it was damaged, and Katara was gone. He ran to a training area where Sokka was at, and the two ventured to Appa, trying to defeat to a giant Firebending machine, to head to a small island a villager told them the ship went to.
[edit] The Village
After leaving the Water Tribe village, what was left of Team Avatar traveled to an Earth Kingdom village, refered to as the Port Village. At the village, Aang and Sokka discover a new ability of invisibility for some seconds. This ability helps them sneek through some guards and enter the village. At the village, Aang and Sokka meet the village elder. This sweet old lady tells Aang and Sokka that she hasn't seen Katara but will ask around for information and clues. In the meanwhile, she tells them that they can move around without revealing their identity be stealing Fire Nation army clothes. So Sokka and Aang go some nearby Fire Nation barracks. There they find uniforms and then return back to the village. Upon returning to the village, the elder asks them for help with a major issue. She tells them that the village's food is mysteriously disappearing somewhere. Aang agrees to help and fights through several small groups of Hog Monkeys to get to the mountains. There they discover that the Fire Nation is stealing and storing the village food inside a cave located in the high mountains. They both inform the elder and she thanks them. She also tells them to speak to Dock Merhcant because he might have some information. Aang and Sokka find the Dock Merchant at the docks. He tells them he saw Zuko's ship being captured and taken to the village docks. Then the Jailer looked him and Katara at a prison in the mountains. So they start to head to the prison.
[edit] Rescuing Katara
When the group arrives at the Fire Nation prison, they fight their way through several firebenders, spearmen, soldiers, and firebending captains. They then have to battle a firebending captain at the bottom level of the prison, where Katara is being kept. When Katara is freed she then tells Sokka and Aang about a machine maker named Lian is being forced to make machines and is looked up in that prison. Then the team enter a large prison chamber and find the Jailer meditating at the middle. Lian is suprised to see an airbender and watches the battle. The Jailer shows strong firebending skills. However, the team still manages to beet him. They then find that Lian has escaped and left a map showing direction from the Northern Water Tribe, to the village, to another Earth village, and then the city of Omashu. They then head out to an Earth village on Appa.
[edit] Meeting the Maker
Rescuing Katara from prison they discovered that a person called "The Maker" is being forced to create machines for the Fire Nation, and so they attempted to free her. They found her in a large cell, guarded by the Warden himself. After defeating him however, they find the Maker had fled. But the found some clues of her whereabouts pointed to an Earthbending training camp.
[edit] Heading to Omashu
Once there, Team Avatar aided Tyro, Haru, and the other Earthbenders who were attacked by the machines. Tyro then tells them that one of their own members, Yuan, was also kidnapped. Haru joins the team to help find his friend. Aang communicates with the Forest Spirit protecting the land in which he advised them to go to Omashu.
Their journey takes them to Omashu and with the help of its King Bumi who gave directions on a secret hidden island. They managed to leave the city relatively unscathed when the Fire Nation invaded. Zuko then appeared, but failing to catch up, and was taken prisoner by a machine.
[edit] The Island and Lian
On the island, they find the Maker Lian, making more machines. She fears that Aang will not be able to master all four elements before Sozin's Comet arrives. Aang refused her help, seeing as how the machines were disrupting villages. Lian then voiced her contempt for him as she sends a machine to fight them to flee to the Air temple, attempting to destroy the Avatar statues. They stop Lian, but Katara, Sokka, and Haru are captured by another machine. The gang chased her down until they reached a fortress, in which they briefly encountered Zuko who is held captive there. Despite Aang's efforts to help him, Zuko attacked the group, and was swept away in a waterfall.
[edit] Final Fights
The four enters the fortress, where they find Lian, where she finished a machine being manned by the missing waterbender Hiryu, Haru's friend Yuan and a nameless firebender. Lian tries to attach Aang to the machine, but he battles it instead. During the fight, Katara is struck down, causing Aang to enter the Avatar State and destroys the machine, burying Lian under its rubble, killing her.
In the deepest level of the fortress, Aang faced Lian to stop her creations. Lian then voiced her contempt for benders in general saying "thinkers should be in charge, not magicians". Believing that division of the elements is the real reason behind the war, her machines will be used to "even the playing field". Sokka, the one who does not bend in the group, voiced his disagreement to her opinion.
Lian then called out the missing benders, including Yuan, who revealed themselves apparently willing to aid her by powering the Ultimation a war machine capable to control fire, earth, water, sound and air.
Team Avatar's united attacks managed to put down the machine. As Aang got distracted Ultimation tried to attack him from behind. Katara got in the way trying to protect him, but doing so knocked her unconscious. Enraged, Aang activated the Avatar State and easily destroyed the machine. It toppled over Lian, presumably killing her.
Haru and Yuan reconcile, and the team left the place behind on Appa. Haru asked if Sokka never liked benders as he said with Lian, in which the latter commented that he finds them alright. Katara and Aang then began to tease him, much to his aggravation.
[edit] Searching for an Earthbending Master
[edit] Fong's Base
As soon as Aang enters the base, General Fong asks Aang to enter the Avatar State to which Aang declines. Once Aang said he would think abou it, the trio help around the fortress. Aang was convinced by Katara to decline the General's offer. When Aang tells the General this, he sens his soldiers to attack. After defeating the soldiers, Sokka knocks out the General with his boomerang. Then the group returns to Appa and fly toward Omashu.
[edit] Omashu
In Omashu, group sees that it is conquered by Governor. Aang with Sokka goes to Omashu by secret path on sewer (that Sokka not clearly pleased). On journey they found the man that hears "the voices" (actually Fire Nation Soldiers speaking, their voice hearing from pipe). When duo is hear them, man Earthbend them to rebel camp. To help them out from Omashu, Aang with Sokka gets supplies and Pentapi that allow to people look like sicking. Then, Katara comes from feeding Appa, and Aang with her go to Governor, and they defeats him and free King Bumi. Bumi tell Aang that he can't teach him Earthbending, then band flies on Appa.
[edit] The Swamp
After the group gets split into pairs due to vines pulling them below, Aang, along with Sokka, cleans up Fire Nation waste that is polluting the swamp. Once the group links up they are informed by a villager that a group on men from the village are trying to hunt him for dinner. Aang goes to the location where Appa, was last seen. After reuniting, the team is attacked by a swamp monster, who is just a villager. Aang then sees a vision about, his future earth bending master.
[edit] Meeting Toph
After arriving in Gaoling, Sokka leaves in search of food while Aang and Katara head to Master Yu's Earthbending Academy. Along the way the pair is attacked by bounty hunters who create multiple roadblocks. After entering Yu's Academy, he challenges Aang to a fight. After the fight, Aang and Sokka battle the Earth Rumble VI contestants, and eventually defeat Toph. After discovering who she is, the pair head toward the Bei Fong Estate, but are ambushed by the bounty hunters from earlier, and taken captive. After breaking out and saving a captive proffesor, the pair sneak in to the Bei Fong Estate. While Aang and Sokka are talking to Toph the three are captured by Xin Fu. After Sokka and Toph defeat Xin Fu and free Aang, Toph agrees to teach him Earthbending. The team then heads of to the Si wong desert, for they had promised the proffesor from earlier to deliver some important blueprints.
[edit] Training with Toph
While in the Si Wong Desert, Toph starts training Aang Earthbending. After awhile, Aang makes a comment that offends Toph and the two spar. After sparring, the a pair fights off a group of Sandbenders who are trying to take Appa. After the fight Professor Zei tells the group of a library. After locating the libray, ever one except Toph entered and scoured through the manuscripts. After breaking Wan Shi Tong's trust he started to sink the library. Once the group escaped, Aang discovers Toph sans Appa. Then she informs him that Appa was taken by the group of sandbenders from before.
[edit] Ba Sing Se
Team Avatar decided to go to Ba Sing Se after Aang's training. When arriving, however, they found a giant drill trying to break down the walls. Everyone other than Toph went into the drill, where they came up with a plan where Katara and him broke down the pillars. After they did so, the two went to the top to fight Azula. Suddenly, Zuko came and began to attack Katara in the hallways of the drill. Aang then began to fight Azula on the top of the drill, and ended up defating her. In the Earth King's palace later, the Team explained the invasion plan to the King and laughed at a joke.
[edit] Within the Fire Nation
[edit] Reawakening
Aang awakes on a Fire Nation boat. Distressed, he gets up and you explore the ship. Eventually, you make your way to the deck where you have to do battle with a few enemies and then fire boulders back at an attacking ship while putting out fires on-deck.
[edit] The Arms Factory
Team Avatar enters a small Fire Nation village located in a heavy-polluted river. When arriving at the poor and small town, Katara and Aang talk to Dock/Xu/Bushi. They ask him what the cause of the village's poverty and polluted river is. Dock/Xu/Bushi tells them that the cause of the poverty and pollution is the Fire Nation Military's Arms Factory. When Katara and Aang hear about the Arms Factory, they decide to go "take a visit" to the factory. They both use their waterbending skills to build an ice brige across the river and into the mountains. On the path to the factory, they encounter a few Fire Nation soldiers and other tasks. Once both of them get to the entrance, Aang can use his airbending skills to fight some group of factory guards. They enter the factory, and use waterbending to break some pipes, crates, etc . Aang and Katara can also freeze pipes with the water from some crates. By the time they both exit the factory, the factory is almost completely sabatoged by their bending. Aang and Katara later head back to the village.
[edit] Pier Fight
As Aang and Katara walk back to the village from the factory, they notice a formation of military jetskies circling the village. They notice the angered General Mung prepared to destroy the defenseless village. The jetskies then go around the village's pier. Aang then rushes to the pier with Katara. They get ready to battle and defend the defenseless village. General Mung notices them and now gets even more furious. They then begin to battle with the soldiers on the jetskies. After the battle continues for a while, General Mung jumps off his jetskie and onto the pier. There, Katara and Aang fight against Mung and several of his soldiers closely. Mung firebends and shots blast. However, Aang cleverly uses waterbending to freeze Mung in a block of ice and defeat the other soldiers. After the fight, the villagers thank him and Katara. However, Aang asks one request from Dock/Xu/Bushi. It is that General Mung is captured and kept someone remote and safe until after the invasion. Dock/Xu/Bushi agrees and thanks the Avatar and his friends.
[edit] Firelord In Hiding
[edit] Into the Inferno
When Aang finally confronts Ozai, in the DS version of the game, the Fire Lord suddenly begins to grow to an enormous size and attacks Aang, who enters the Avatar State. While battling Ozai with airballs, Ozai's attacks become more ferocious and he begins to use lightning. Eventually, Aang defeats Ozai and uses Energybending on him, taking away his Firebending. After the battle, the team comes to congratulate Aang, who eventually walks away from the group. Katara joins him and kisses him and, together, they watch Sozin's Comet as it passes by.
