Why Ozai's Beach Palace and Ember Island appear so far from each other on the Map?

I just have a question, while watching the Map of the Avatar World, I noticed that, while Ozai's Beach House is on Ember Island, in the map, both places appear very, very far from each other.

This is an idea I had for a fannon story that I might wright and I wanted to get some feedback. The Title is "Avatar: the Broken World". The world is now divided into 7 nations due to various civil wars in the centuries after Aang. The new nations are based off of subskills of the origional elements. The new nations have not practiced the origional skill in centuries and it has been forgoten that they were really part off another nation. The new nations are:

'''Wood Nation''' (I have not thought of the name for the wood people or the lightning people so for now I will use the term nation): After the War the Foggy swap tribe was formaly introdused to the world. They were at first welcomed by their sister tribes but after afew centuries a rift comes between the Polar Tribes and the Swap tribe. The Polar tribes decide to leave out the Swap tribe from any politics. The furrious Swap tribe decides to split from the main tribes and they increase there size by conquring Earth Kingdom Territories (Mostly the regions with forests and swamps). They also ban traditional waterbending in favor of plantbending. Due to there sole consentration on the bending of plants there abilities to bend them increases. Now instead of just causing plants to move they can make plants grow and control any form of plant mattet so long as it is or recently was alive.

'''Metal Empire:''' After discovering Metal Bending and winning the war Toph tought metal bending to other people. At first most sighted people were unable to but in time they caught on. The art of metal bending was mainly used by people in mining towns. Then a new Earth King (not Keui's son this happens several centuries after A:TLA) who is very greedy. He passes some new laws that are very unfair to mining villarges. After a while the villagers are fed up with this and revolt. Like the wood kingdom they chose to only practice their subskill and forget there true nationality.

'''Lightning Nation:''' Durring the early reign of Fire Lord Zuko some fire nation explores travaling east in the Vast Ocean between the Fire Nation and Earth Kingdom (I made that up but it is allowed) discover some uncharted Islands. Since no humans live on the islands the fire nation anexes them. People start to move there and for a time all is good. Centuries later some people on the new island who have a natural affinity for lightning bending due to the stormy climate decide since they bend lightning they are superior to those who only bend regular fire. They take over in a coup d'etate and bansih all regular fire benders. The y then go to war with the Main Land who is unsuccesfull at gainning back there land. In the main land Lightning Bending is banned due to the Lightning Bending Rebals. The two nations then forget they were once one.

The story is about the current Avatar an airbender and desendent of Aang and his quest to reuniffy the Broken World. The only Character's name I have tought off is the Main femail Character who is the childhood friend of the current Avatar and he has a cruch on her. Her name would be Ciel (frenchword for Sky). The other character who I have thougght of is a boy who was from the Wood Nation who accidentaly waterbent and at first they think he is the Avatar but then they talk to the mystics or the leader who tells them that the Avatar is an Air Nomad. He is then thrown out of the Wood Nation by being accused of being a spy. He then goes to the Southern Air temple (although now there are villages for civilians, who are still spiritual, but the Temple its self is mainlt used for the training of Airbenders and the Counsils of Monks/ Nuns The villages are not segragated but the boys and girls are seperated when they begin Airbending training.) This boy meets up with the Avatar, who was just recently announced and asks him for his help. The three set off for the Water tribe to learn waterbending (Not ciel of corse she came to support her friend and to help him along the way)
